A Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has asked the government to deal with the wastage in the system in order to increase revenue generation.
He said there is no doubt in his mind that there is too much waste in the country.
[The President] has to cut waste” he said on the Good Evening Ghana programme on Tuesday June 21.
Mr Agyepong told the President to pay particular attention at the Tema Port because, in his view, the nation is not deriving the right amount of funds from there.
“I think we are getting only 20 per cent of what the nation needs from Tema Port, there is a lot of wastages. We have been in government for closed to 6 years.
“I remember myself and Kwadwo Baah Wiredu (Former Finance Minister) organizing a state operation to check a few thins one Friday evening at the port , and what we saw was appalling.
“All we did was to get national security guys to stuck some senior officers outside the office one Friday evening and what we discovered is not something I want to be able to come and discuss it.”
