The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has been confirmed as the venue for regional elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which are slated for Friday, May 27.
The confirmation was made by the regional minister, Simon Osei-Mensa.
“The venue for the election is here at the residency of the Regional Coordinating Council,” Mr Osei-Mensah, who doubles as the Chairman of the Regional Elections Committee, told the media Saturday.
He also stated that “only state security will be responsible for the election; no other security will be tolerated”.
There were reports last year that the regional office, which could have hosted the elections, had been locked up by the owner over unpaid rent.
The landlady had complained that for over three years, the party had failed to pay its rent.
This was, however, dismissed by the Bernard Antwi Boasiako-led administration.
But Krofrom residents had hinted that there has been no brisk activities at the office, little wonder the elections will be held elsewhere.
In the case of the party album, the national headquarters is expected to make that provision.
“The preparation of the album is not within the mandate of this committee,” the Ashanti Region Minister said.
“We are waiting for the album from the national headquarters.”
Voting is scheduled to start at 7:00am.
