The Prestea District Magistrate Court has remanded three suspects for the alleged murder of 16-year-old Junior High School graduate Musah Issaka Atta who operated as an Okada rider at Prestea Kutukrom.
Supt. William Jabialu, Prestea District Commander confirmed to Alfred Ocansey on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show that the three suspects were arrested in the Bono Region with the assistance of the Bono Region Police Command on May 1, 2022
Facts of case
The family of the deceased reported the disappearance of Musah Issaka, an Okada operator in March 2022.
Three (3) Suspects whose names were given as; Kingsley Sekyere 18 years, Enoch Yeboah 22 years and Tetteh Ajoke 31, all unemployed were picked by the police on May 1,2022 for conniving to kill the deceased Musah Issaka 16 years old Okada operator and stole his motor bike.
The first suspect Kingsley contracted the deceased Musah Issaka to convey him to his village called Mahab beyond Kutukrom. On reaching there, the two colleagues attacked and killed Musah, and sold the motor bike to the first suspect Kingsley for an amount of GHS 2000 and they all went into hiding.
Police investigations led to the arrest of the Kingsley and subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the other two accomplices Enoch Yeboah and Tetteh Ajoke.
They were arraigned before the Prestea District Magistrate Court on Wednesday May 4, 2022 and they have been remanded to Police Custody to reappear on May 31, 2022
The Prestea Police Commander debunked the earlier allegation by one Nana Salifu who identifies as the Kusaasi Chief at Prestea that the suspects who were galamsey operators killed Musah for rituals to get more gold.
Supt. William Jabialu also disclosed that the suspects were friends of the deceased and Musah Issaka was 16 years not 14 years as was earlier stated.
Nana Salifu told Alfred Ocansey on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show Wednesday May 4 that the deceased who worked as an Okada (Motor) Rider went missing for a while and so they decided to search for him when his younger sister informed them that a certain guy by name Rasta contracted the deceased to drop him at his village and that was the last time he was seen.
He says this propelled them (the Okada Riders) to mount a manhunt for Rasta. They found some blood on his veranda when they got to his house but he was on the run so they took videos of the scene and went to the police station to lodge a complaint.
“However, the police managed to arrest Rasta at Sampa Boarder in the Bono Region when he was trying to sneak out of the country about a week ago. The suspect (Rasta) was handed over to the Prestea Police for interrogation and confessed that he did not kill the boy but was only contracted by some guys to bring the deceased which he did but even he was not given the full amount of money they promised him” he told 3FM
