Community leaders in the Fanteakwa North District have been urged to sensitize the citizenry to give out reliable data during the Population and Housing Census exercise.
The Fanteakwa North District Census Officer, Francis Obeng Adu, said quality data was important for development.
“I urge you to carry the census messages to our communities, so that at the end of the exercise our aim which is to achieve coverage and also collect good quality data would be realised.”
He also asked the census enumerators to ask the right questions for the database.
“With the right information, planning for development becomes easy.”
The Fanteakwa North District Coordinating Director, Jamani Dramani, pointed out that the 2021 census would address the various data gap needed for effective planning of sectorial programmes at the district level.
“Data on housing conditions, household amenities and assets will be very useful to the district assembly to asses adequacy and quality of housing and utilities as well as determine housing tenure arrangements.”
The Fanteakwa North District Chief Executive, Charles Oware-Tweneboah, appealed to the constituents to bear with the census officials as they go about their business and provide complete and accurate information to them.
“Information provided to census officials is strictly confidential handled by persons who have taken the Oath of Secrecy under the Statistical Service Act 2019 ( Act 1003). Nananom please support the census process without reservations.”
He added that the census would provide data that would help measure, monitor and estimate progress made in the national development agenda and help in evidence-based decision making and planning .
Every 10 years, the nation engages in Population and Housing Census to collect relevant data.
This year’s census will be the first fully digital census with several additions of collection of data in new areas. It starts on Sunday, June 13.
