One of the first women to be enlisted into the Ghana Police Service was laid to rest on Friday, May 7, 2021.
General Sergeant (rtd) Rosemond Asiama Nkansah was among 12 female officers enlisted into the Service on September 1, 1952.
They were purposely to handle issues affecting women, children and juveniles.
But Gen. Sgt (rtd) Asiama Nkansah rose to become the highest-ranking officer among the 12.
Her burial service was held at the Police Interdenominational Church at the Police Depot in Accra.
The service was officiated by the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, Rt. Rev Felix O. Annancy with DCOP Very Rev. Fr. George Arthur, Chaplain of the Police Catholic Church, moderating.
In his sermon, Rt. Rev Felix O. Annancy reminded mankind that everyone has a life span on earth and each moment must be lived with the view of making a positive impact while on earth.
Among those present at the ceremony were Director General of CID COP Isaac Ken Yeboah, who represented the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Director General for Private Security Operations COP Alphonse Adu-Amankwaah, Director General for Welfare Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Director General for Technical COP Samuel Monney and the Chief Staff Officer, ACP Joseph Owusu-Ansah.
Executives and members of the Retired Police Officers Association were also present.
