A District Magistrate Court in Somanya in the Eastern Region and presided over by Justice Seth A. Alafa has remanded into police custody 40-year-old farmer Prosper Negble for killing his wife.
The suspect, who hails from Kakadedzi, a village between Agortime Kpetoe and Ziope in the Agortime District of the Volta Region, has been charged with murder as per Section 46 of the Criminal Offence Act 1960(Act 29) and has been kept for further investigation.
Prosecutor Detective Inspector Francis Dornyo told the court that on Monday, April 12, the suspect confessed and gave statement to police that he murdered his deceased wife, Believe Sakitey, and pleaded for mercy.
He was arrested over the weekend at the Somanya Police Command upon arrival to assist investigation for allegedly killing his wife.
The wife, 25, was found at Gameli Guest House with knife wounds in a pool of blood on Easter Monday.
The accused and his deceased wife, Believe, are said to have one child.
Further investigating is still ongoing on the case.
