Former Black Stars Midfielder Otto Addo, who is now into coaching has said before calling time on his career, he was unsure of what to do in the future.
According to the former Borussia Dortmund star, he had an offer to play for the second team of Hamburg.
His stint with Hamburg was cut short due to injuries which led him into scouting.
“I had an offer for hamburg. I played for the second team as an older person to guide the young ones and I liked it. And then when I had again, problems with my knee and I had to stop my career, I was thinking about, “what I can do now?
“I wanted to do something with soccer or football.
“About this I was very, very sure, but I didn’t know which section to go.
“So I went into the scouting. It was ok, but travelling alone and watching games alone was quite different,” he said in an interview with CNN.
Otto Addo then took up a different role in football – coaching the youth players of Borrusia Dortmund before being promoted to be the assistant of the first team.
“And I’m a guy who likes to be around people and talk with people.
“And they asked me if I could me if I could join the U-19 as an assistant.
“I stepped in and I liked it. I like to work with young players and with people
“It was a good experience. I said okay I like it and I want to do this for the rest of my life,” he added.
Addo in the past scouted for Ghana’s national team ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.
