The Managing Director of Maritime Executive Recruiters, Cyprus, Helen Joannou has urged young women who aspire to develop a career in the maritime sector to be focused.
She said this while speaking at the career journey series 2021 on the theme “the balance to achieve more- career and relationship” organized by CMTD-YW foundation.
Helen Joannou stressed the need for youth especially mentees in the industry to acquire a better understanding of the blue economy and position themselves well.
For the part of Award winning Maritime Journalist and 2020 GJA Maritime Journalist of year, Josephine Antwi- Adjei of Media General/ TV3 also speaking as a panelist added that majority of women in Ghana’s marine sector are found in the fisheries industry, and a few other venturing into modern maritime occupation of masculine field.
Sharing her career journey she advised mentees to aspire for excellence and discover your path as your work to perfect your craft.
Adding that making your dreams come true is very key in life.
Chief executive officer of CMTD-YW foundation, Rekiatu Larteykaa Gberbie was happy the Programme was a huge success promising of a bigger session in the next season as we seek to adjust to the new normal.
The foundation is a non government organization established for the purpose of empowering and projecting young women in Africa’s shipping and logistics through diverse mentoring.
