Management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) is expected to hold a crunch meeting this morning to decide on the fate of students who have been deferred for paying their school fees late.
The school in a Tuesday notice to the students instructed all those who failed to meet the deadlines for payment of fees and registration to defer their programme.
The directive sparked agitations among the student body Wednesday, who massed up at the school premises to protest what they describe as insensitive.
They say the school failed to take into consideration the fact that some parents, guardians and sponsors are still reeling under the impact of Covid-19. But the school in Wednesday statement stood its grounds justifying its decision.
However, Head of Public Relations at the university, Daniel Machator, disclosed management will look at the issues again.
“The rector’s decision is that it was management that took this decision and so he was going to convene management meeting God-willing tomorrow and then we see what happens or what comes out of the meeting”, he told Nana Akua Aborampa on 3FM’s Hot Edition Wednesday.
