Public universities bill relaid in parliament, read for the 2nd time
The controversial public universities bill has been re-laid and read for the second time in parliament on Tuesday, December 15.
Parliament suspended the bill due to public outrage and criticisms from stakeholders in the education sector.
The bill seeks to amongst other things harmonise the governance, operations, and administration of public universities in the country.
The minority has indicated although it supports the amended bill, it would not be a part of its consideration and passage if other stakeholders in the education sector with concerns are not heard.
But Education Minister, Mattew Opoku Prempeh indicated the education committee of parliament would hold further consultations before the bill is finally passed.
