25 ‘Western Togolanders’ granted GHS2.5m bail
Twenty five Western Togolander who attempted destabilizing parts of the Volta region have been granted a GHS2.5million bail by a Circuit court in Accra on Tuesday December 15.
Out of the 29 who appeared before the court on Monday four were also discharged after prosecution had amended it charge sheet.
They were each granted bail in the sum of GHc100,000 with two sureties each.
The court said the sureties should be public servants earning not less than GHc4000 per month and report to the police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sylvester Asare amended the charge sheet with a new one where four of the accused persons were discharged.
The group alleged to be separatists, championing a secession agenda blocked entry points into to Volta Region, allegedly seized several towns in the Volta region, mounted road blocks and burnt tyres in September this year.
They were charged with treason felony.
