CAF sets new date for Champions League final
The Organising Committee of the CAF Interclub Competitions and Clubs Licensing has set Friday, November 27 as date on which to play the final of the 2020 Total CAF Champions League.
The match will be between the winner of the Zamalek-Raja semi-final game and Al Ahly.
Al Ahly booked a place in the final after beating Wydad Casablanca of Morocco 5-1 on aggregate in the first semi-final game.
But before the kick-off of the second semi-final game, some players of the two sides tested positive for coronavirus, forcing the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the match.
It has now been scheduled to come off on Wednesday, November 4 at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
The winner will then face Al Ahly in the final to be played at Borg Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt.
The 2020 CAF Champions League final had originally been scheduled to be played in May but it was postponed to October as a result of Covid-19.
With the new date, CAF hopes to get its representative for the FIFA Club World Cup to be held in June, 2021.
