The Ghana immigration has repatriated seven Burkinabe who entered the country illegally through an unapproved route in Pulmakom in the Pusiga District of the Upper East Region.
The seven were intercepted by the Zebilla Inland Checkpoint at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday onboard a passenger mini bus with registration GR 8130-14 from the Bawku operational area to Kumasi.
Their arrest brings to 150, the total number of immigrants who have been intercepted and repatriated for illegally entering the country since the closure of Ghana’s borders in March this year.
Unit commander at the Zebilla Inland Checkpoint, Superintendent David Aseidu Addo said, upon screening of the seven, it was established that they were travelling to Kumasi for farming purposes.
He said they were escorted back to their country through Kulungugu border.
Supt. Aseidu Addo has meanwhile cautioned people who have been aiding foreigners to enter the country to desist from it as they will be made to face the law when caught.
Mr Addo said the command will intensify surveillance and patrol to make sure all passengers are screened and properly checked before exiting from Zebilla.
