The Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin has ordered for the removal of alien shrines and ban on alien ritual activities.
In a statement dated May 15, 2020, he said over the past decade there have been influx of immigrant ritualists guised as traditional priests and engaged in activities that threatened the lives of residents, social order, health and the economy of the people.
He pointed to several reports the traditional council has received and a recent case at Adeiso involving two fetish priests and the burial of a resident at a shrine.
Okyenhene ordered that the alien shrines should be closed in two weeks, as well as immediate ending of alien customary rites. The police service and other security agencies have been asked to intensify investigations into ritual murders and criminal activities that have happened in recent times.
Chiefs have also be warned to desist from leasing land for the erection of shrine. The statement said chiefs who flout the directive would be destooled.
