President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Wednesday swore into office two new members of the Council of State.
The two, Alhaji Abdul Abubakar Rahman and Major General Richardson Baiden (Rtd) replaces Alhaji Sahanun Moqtar, the Upper West Council Member and Nana Kofi Obiri Egyir II, Sanaahen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, respectively, who passed on earlier in the year.
At a short ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra, where President Akufo-Addo administered the Oaths of Office and Secrecy, he urged the newly sworn-in members to enrich his Presidency with their inputs on the Council.
He advised the two to carry out their duties dispassionately, regardless of their backgrounds, as they have the quality and experience that could enhance the work of the Council.
“You are joining a Council that has proven, so far, to be very effective in its deliberations… It is my hope and expectation that you would make sound contributions to the proceedings of the Council and thereby add value to its output and help enrich my Presidency to the benefit of the Ghanaian people,” he said.
Maj. Gen. Richardson-Baiden thanked the President for the opportunity granted them to contribute to the betterment of the country.
He pledged that they would work to justify the confidence reposed in them, saying; “We shall not fail you, we are only coming to add to what others have delivered.”
