Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku has acknowledged that lobbying may be ongoing for the position of the Association’s Vice President but that will not influence him.
According to him, lobbying is legal but was emphatic that no one is lobbying him for the position.
One member of the newly constituted Executive Council will be elected Vice President of the country’s football governing body.
The Dreams FC owner said he can only make an input because he has just one vote like the other members on the Council.
So far, 11 football administrators have been elected to serve on the Council.
Three represent the interest of Division One clubs while five represent the interest of Premier League clubs.
There is one who represents the interest of Elite Women’s Clubs.
Regional Football Association (RFA) presidents are also expected to select two members but so far two have been elected.
One will be confirmed at the next congress of the Association.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues in an interview with Nuong Faalong, Mr Okraku said: “Everybody on the Council is my friend and we speak among ourselves, so if you decided to call that lobbying, [it] is up to you”.
For him, every one on the Council has something to offer.
“We are all there to serve the sport,” he pointed out, but insisted that the vice president to be elected must possess a certain “enough” quality.
“[It should be] somebody who understands the game of football. Somebody who understands the business of football, somebody who embraces the ideas and philosophies that I want to preach, somebody who will be very passionate like my good self. For me that is enough.”
He added that the potential vice president will help in fine-tuning his manifesto into a working document for the benefit of Ghana football in entirety.
Going forward, he expects every member of the Council to preach “what I want to preach”.
“That’s very important.”
