He is known notably for his reggae vibes but Rocky Dawuni will now add on to that side of him with tree planting.
The award-winning international reggae musician said he is putting together plans to choose a day on which 100,000 trees will be planted in Accra, Ghana’s major capital city.
This is an issue that borders on climate change, he said.
Speaking to Berla Mundi on TV3’s New Day on Tuesday, the Grammys nominee said he is liaising with the Mayor of Accra to get this vision come to fruition.
For him, the project will be personal for participants as each one person will be made to plant at least a tree.
“That [tree] too will have to be your legacy. You have to make sure it survives.”
Rocky Dawuni was in 2018 named a UN Goodwill Ambassador for the environment.
He scheduled as one of the speakers at the Global Landscapes Forum to be held in Accra on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rocky Dawuni is expected to use his music to draw attention to human activities that have led to the degradation of the landscape.
According to him, Africans need to move away from cherishing concrete structures to flora as pointers to landscape beauty.
He also said Africans can solve their own problems and so asked all and sundry to join his drive to plant more trees in Accra.
