The Jospong Group of Companies and its Executive Chairman, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, have been awarded at the just ended second Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards (APSCA).
Dr Siaw Agyepong received the Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Government Initiative Award for his outstanding service, innovation and tireless efforts in building strong partnerships with the Ghanaian government and service to the masses.
The Jospong Group also received the award for Excellent in public-private partnership.
Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, was also awarded for her outstanding contribution to public sector development, while Mrs Monica Asare of the Ministry of Energy won the Civil Servant of the Year award.
Mr Benjamin Addo of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources received the Young Civil Servant of the Year.
Receiving the two awards, Dr Siaw Agyepong, expressed delight for the recognition given to the Jospong Group for its immense contribution to Ghana’s development agenda.
He dedicated the awards to the over 200,000 hardworking staff of the Jospong Group and the public for their unflinching support in growing a Ghanaian group of companies to compete at the global stage.
Dr Agyepong observed Ghanaian private entrepreneurs were passionate and determined to effectively contribute to Ghana’s sustainable development initiatives, hence the need to support local firms to lead the country’s developmental agenda.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who delivered the keynote address on the theme “Enhancing Public Sector Efficiency through Digitization”, underscored the need for the digitization initiative by the government to be implemented within the public sector.
That, he said, will yield the needed results of bringing efficiency in public service delivery.
Dr Bawumia urged public servants to support government’s digitization drive within the public sector.
The Jospong Group of Companies is a wholly Ghanaian-owned with operations in other African countries and Asia.
The company has business interest in about 12 sectors of the economy with its biggest operations in waste management, ICT and banking as well as the automobile and equipment.
Established in 1995, as a printing press, the company has since diversified to covering various sectors with over 40 companies, delivering quality services and products using simple technology at competitive prices.
