President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sent his “warm” congratulations to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, for being named the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Mr Ahmed, who became Prime Minister in 2018, signed a landmark peace deal with Eritrea ending a 20-year-old conflict.
This was listed as one of the feats that got him named as the winner by the Nobel Foundation in Oslo on Friday, October 11.
Taking to Twitter a few hours later, Ghana’s leader, Nana Akufo-Addo, said the win is “well-deserved”.
He also stated that it is a reminder that “peace is one of the most critical ingredients needed to make Africa successful”.
It is well deserved, and a reminder to us all that peace is one of the most critical ingredients needed to make Africa successful. Congratulations @AbiyAhmedAli 2/2
