The police have re-arrested a convict who broke jail with two suspects on remand at the Prampram police cells.
The escape from lawful custody happened on Monday April 22, 2019.
According to the police, they were four in the cells but three managed to cut open the roof of the cells and ran away.
The police in a statement said, “The fugitives who were three in number escaped from the prison cell through the ceiling at about 11:20 pm. Another inmate only alerted police on duty only after the prisoners had escaped.
“Police rushed to the cells and realised that the ceiling of the cells had been broken and prisoners namely; Samuel Pardie and Victor Fiagbenu both remand prisoners and Michael Nartey a convict prisoner had managed to escape.”
Police administration had given personnel on duty 10 days to recapture the suspects or face disciplinary action.
After a search was mounted, Michael Nartey was re-arrested by Prampram Police at his hideout in Ashaiman.
Meanwhile efforts are being made by the police to get the other suspects who are on the run.
“The Tema Regional Command is seriously appealing to the general public to help re-arrest these suspects,” the police statement said.
