The historic meeting between the Asantehene and the Okyenhene came off Thursday, August 23, at Kyebi in the Eastern Region amidst pomp, pageantry and a display of culture.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, visited Kyebi at the invitation of the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, to witness the 75th anniversary of the passing of Okyenhene Nana Sir Ofori Atta I.
For many historians, the meeting of the two kings would cement a cordial relationship after many years of perceived rift between them.
But beyond the gestures of peace and unity was a grand display of rich Akan tradition and culture.
Quite a good number of state officials were also spotted at Kyebi conspicuously clad in beautiful Kente cloths and flaunting their pride of belongingness.
More than a 100 chiefs were arrayed in their glittering regalia under huge umbrellas.
As a member of the Legislative Council Member of the Gold Coast economy, Nana Sir Ofori Atta I played a very active role in deliberations hence contributed to the development of the country.
He died in 1943, aged 62, with the Ofori-Attas becoming a lineage that points to economic and political influence in Ghana.
Below are some random pictures capturing the grandeur that came with the ceremony on Thursday.
