The Electoral Commission has with immediate effect from Wednesday, suspended the issuance of voters ID replacement at its various district offices across the country.
The Commission explained replacement of cards, which were done at the cost of five cedis to each applicant, is to allow the EC to “mobilise and retool its district Voter Management System (VMS)” ahead of the scheduled 2018 online limited voters registration exercise.
A statement from the Electoral Commission dated August 23, 2018 said a new date for the resumption of the ID card replacement services will be announced in due course.
It said the Commission regrets any inconvenience the suspension may cause anyone.
