Some youth from Asawase Zongo have stormed the Kumasi Central Mosque in the Ashanti Region, burning tyres in apparent protest to recent shootings of seven residents by the police.
War songs are being chanted while road blocks have been mounted in front of the mosque.
They are demanding justice for the killings, 3news.com picked up.
The killing of some seven youth suspected to be armed robbers was not receive in good faith by families as at least three claim their deceased sons were innocent.
But the police on Wednesday said the ‘robbers’ had exchanged fire with them.
The situation has engendered tension in the Asokore Mampong municipality.
Already, the Member of Parliament for the Asawase Constituency Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has asked key duty bearers including Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who is the Chairman of the Police Council, to investigate the killings.
He, however, asked the youth to remain calm despite the pain they are going through.
Some of the youth said they are only demanding justice and want answers from the police and nothing more to their demonstration.
