Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka is calling on the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who is the Chairman of the Police Council, Minister of Interior Ambrose Dery and Attorney General Gloria Akuffo to constitute an independent committee to investigate the shooting of seven persons thought to be armed robbers in his constituency.
Out of the seven killed, three have had their families protest the police action, saying their shot relatives were not armed robbers.
Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive Alhaji Halidu Seidu on Wednesday led the families to meet the police commander.

Commiserating with the families, Alhaji Muntaka said information he has garnered are not “adding up”.
“This raises a lot of question for me as their MP, the community and Ghanaians at large,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said his call for justice for the bereaved families must not “be undermined”.
“The police must come clearer, because their shoot-to-kill approach to handling issues is unacceptable and affecting many people who are considered innocent.”
He indicated that even similar cases in the past have not reached their conclusions as families concerned are yet to come to terms with their losses.
“I know very well that the police can do better than they are doing now.”
He assured Asawase constituents that “I will leave no stone unturned in demanding justice for our lost brothers”.
