A National Vice Chairperson aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Agnes Asangalisa Chigabatia, says what the grassroots need is the support in order to be sustainable.
Touting herself as the “fertilizer” for the grassroots, she said a vote for her at the 2018 National Delegates’ Conference on Saturday will see funds pumped into the lower tiers of the party.
“I am manure for the grassroots. They need support to hold the party.”
Mrs Chigabatia, who was once Upper East Region Minister, was speaking to Onua FM’s Kwesi Asempa on Friday ahead of the Conference.
‘Silver collection must stop’
The 2016 NPP parliamentary aspirant for Builsa North Constituency recounted how the grassroots suffered while in opposition.
She said there were several instances at meetings where “silver collections” were taken from members.
“There must be a way for the silver collection to stop,” she insisted.
She said a vote for her will see progress within the “ruling” party.
‘I’m not a lady’
Mrs Chigabatia said she is “a woman but not a lady” to trifle with any responsibility that will be handed her by the delegates.
“A lady does things ladylike but a woman leads at the war front.
“I am not a lady that will sit down and delegate.”
Asked whether she compares herself to the legendary Yaa Asantewaa, she philosophically said: “I am not the Yaa Asantewaa but I am the Yaa Asantewaa.”
