Government will in the next two weeks start advertisement for interested companies to apply for the bid to fly over and capture all parts of the country.
This is part of plans to digitise the administration of land in the country by the end of 2018.
Minister for Lands and Natural Resources John Peter Amewu made this known on Monday when he paid a visit to the newly constructed Ashanti Regional Lands and Natural Resources Office in Kumasi.
“We need to move from the manual system and adopt a digital approach…We need a complete map of the country. Digitization is the way to fast-track the process of land administration.
“To start with, we need a complete map of this country. Every aspect of the country needs to be covered with high resolution orthophoto. I am sure within the next two weeks, adverts are going to come up for competitive companies that are interested in flying over the country to come on board. There is only one flying season which is about three months down the line and we don’t want to miss that.”
The office, which is 98 per cent complete, commenced in 2015 and is set to be commissioned by June this year.
“What is left is the furniture and other necessary items for the daily operational activities.”
The office complex is for all the land sector agencies: Office of Administrators of Stool Lands, Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, Land Evaluation Division, Survey and Mapping Division, Public and Vested Land Management Division.
The project is funded by Ghana government and the World Bank at a cost of $15 million.
The Minister again explained that this new office will help put an end to the alleged corrupt practices in land administration process.
The Minister was joined by his deputy, Benito Owusu Bio, and other stakeholders on a tour of some alternative livelihood projects in the Ashanti Region.
He also paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
