Ms. Cynthia Naa Koshie Lamptey who is being vetted for the deputy Special Prosecutor post says she will not allow herself to be treated as puppet by her superiors should she be approved by parliament.
According to her, she has been appointed by the president, subject to parliament’s approval, to assist the Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu, adding she is thus going to the Office to work and not for “cosmetic sake”.
Many critics have accused Mr. Amidu as being a self-centered person who has relational issues with the people he works with but Ms. Lamptey appearing at the Appointments Committee of Parliament Wednesday said she “can work with him effectively”
When asked how she would deal with problematic bosses who may try to sideline her in the discharge of her work, the nominee said she would not hesitate to resign in such situations.
“I assure you, if I should face something of that sort, I would resign because I wasn’t put there just for, I mean for cosmetic sake. I was put there to work”.

Ms. Lamptey who is a lawyer by profession with 29 years public prosecutorial experience indicated that she first inform the appointing authority about the situation, saying “I may even go to whoever it is to at least inform him that I’ve realized that I’m not working”.
She said if it is established that the she is being sidelined on purpose “I would resign because I cannot be a puppet there”.
With over 30 years standing as a lawyer, Ms. Lamptey was on April 26 nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the Deputy Special Prosecutor.

Her nomination was presented to Parliament and was subsequently referred to the Appointments Committee that has the mandate to vet the candidate to establish her suitability for the anti-graft job.
When approved, Ms Lamptey will assist Martin Alamisi Benz Kaizer Amidu at the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
The two coincidentally worked together at the Attorney General’s Department in the late Atta Mills’s government.
She was part of the prosecution of businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome as well as the former National Service Scheme Executive Director, Alhaji Alhassan Imoro, who was charged for allegedly stealing GHS86.9 million.
There were reports that former President John Dramani Mahama sacked her in 2015 for non-performance.
Ms Lamptey will be the first Deputy Special Prosecutor if approved.
By the statutes establishing the Office, the Deputy Special Prosecutor shall hold her office on the same terms and conditions of service as a Justice of the High Court except that the tenure of office shall be for a non-renewable tenure of seven years.
