The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has been ordered to suspend, indefinitely, introduction of the compulsory first aid kit.
Drivers, from January 2018, were charged GHc108 for the mandatory kit as part of the ongoing annual Vehicle Registration and Licensing Regime being implemented by the Authority.
The Governing Board of DVLA which gave the directive for its suspension acknowledged that the mandatory first aid kit has attracted “a siege of public outcry”.
It also took notice of the “concern about the related pricing attendant therewith”.

The Governing Board of the DVLA, in a press statement signed by its Board Chairman said on Thursday it acknowledged that there has not been the necessary public education, discussion and sensitization with relevant stakeholders.
It therefore said the compulsory “First Aid Kit has been suspended and put on indefinite hold. We unreservedly apologize to the general public for any inconvenience occasioned.”
