Former Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation (GBC), William Ampem Darko, says he stopped the collection of TV licensing fees from the public because it was not adequate to fund GBC.
He said he preferred using internally generated funds to run the state broadcaster instead of taken 30pesewas as TV license to fund GBC.
Speaking on 3FM’s morning show Sunrise on Thursday on the debate over the TV license, Mr. Ampem Darko explained that “the GBC problems are marketing and financing”

He said “even though the internally generated funds are not enough, I stopped TV license because it was just 30pesewas”.
“I forgot about TV license and concentrated on internally generated funds to run GBC”.
The Member of Commonwealth Broadcasting Association Member said “managerial plays a major role in GBC”.
