Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho seems to have given up on his chase for Real Madrid super star Gareth Bale.
The player, who featured for Real Madrid against Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup last night in Macedonia, has been a target for the Red Devils’ manager and wanted to do anything to bring the player to Manchester.
After the match, Jose Mourinho was asked whether his pursuit for the Wales international is over.
“Clearly the club wants him, the manager wants him and he wants the club, so for me it’s game over,” he said. “Even before it started but it’s game over clearly because everybody knows he is going to stay.”
Bale, 28, told journalists that his concentration is on the new season and has been ignoring any transfer rumour linking him to other clubs.
“I’m just concentrating on my football and I’m not listening to anything. I’m not reading anything although people tell me bits and bobs. I’m enjoying my football and playing as much as a I can and winning trophies.”
