IGP David Asante-Apeatu was appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo in January
The Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apeatu, will serve two more years after his retirement, 3news.com has gathered.
The senior-most police officer was expected to proceed on his mandatory retirement this year.
But the appointing authority has given him two more years to serve as the head of the Ghana Police Service.
He was appointed on Wednesday, January 25 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to replace John Kudalor.
Since his appointment, IGP Asante Apeatu has had to battle the insurgency of political vigilante groups including Delta Forces.
He consequently declared war on vigilantism.
