THE Ghana Scout Association (GSA) has inducted its new Board and National Executive Committee (NEC), with a call on members to uphold honesty, teamwork, and commitment to the voluntary service of scouting.
The board chaired by William Pitt has other members as Issahaque Suleman, Mercy Sackey, Nana Fanyinamah III, and Andrew Asamoah.
The other members are Hilary Awujue, Seth Kojo Eyiah, Cyril Sena Adjei, Prince Akesse, Benjamin Akasni, Mary Eshun, Paula Buyase, Holy Boadi, Sylvester Wellbeck Atidigah, and Abdul Sulemana.
Speaking at the induction ceremony, the former Vice Chairperson of the World Scout Committee, Jemima Nartey, said the board and the NEC bodies were key drivers of the GSA’s operations and would play a critical role in strengthening scouting activities across the country.
She explained that scouting was part of a global movement guided by decisions taken at conferences, implemented through regional structures down to the national level.
“We do not do things outside of what we have all decided to do during the conference. It trickles down to the Africa region and then to the Ghana national association,” she said.
She urged the team to remain honest and united, noting that division could undermine scouting objectives.
The Director for Education and Impact of the World Organisation Bureau, Jonathan Omondi, commended the GSA for ensuring a smooth leadership transition, describing it as uncommon in many organisations.
He said the two-day workshop for the leaders covered governance strategy, risk management, and conflict management, and resulted in the development of a team charter.
The newly inducted Board and NEC members pledged to work diligently to uplift the association and ensure effective stewardship during their term.
