The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, has announced a temporary traffic management plan to facilitate ongoing construction on the Accra-Tema motorway extension, particularly at the Tetteh Quarshie interchange bridge on the N1.
According to an audio statement posted on the GHA’s official Facebook handle, the northbound carriageway from Accra to Madina on the N4 will be temporarily closed to allow for T-beam launching works as part of the interchange expansion.
To maintain traffic flow, the southbound carriageway from Madina to Accra, currently consisting of four lanes, will be reconfigured into two lanes in each direction. The measure is designed to accommodate vehicles travelling both to and from Accra and Madina while construction is ongoing.
The Authority said the works will be carried out on weekends and public holidays starting from tomorrow, March 14, 2026, and are expected to continue for approximately four months.
GHA emphasized that the lane reduction is critical to provide a safe working environment for construction personnel and to ensure the continued safety of all motorists. Drivers have been urged to exercise caution, adhere to traffic signs, and cooperate with traffic management officials throughout the duration of the works.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and anticipate delays as construction continues on one of Ghana’s busiest transport corridors.
