Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren says Ghana’s first training session in Mauritius was deliberately kept light as players continued to arrive at camp.
Ghana opened camp on Monday, October 5, ahead of their 2028 Olympic Games qualifier against Mauritius.
Ten players had arrived in Mauritius by midday on the opening day, with Rose Teye Baah, Margaret Agyapomaa, Diana Amoako, Nancy Amoh, Zakaria Ajegepina and Rabiatu Maltiti among those in camp.
With some players arriving on Monday, Bjorkegren opted against an intense opening session as the team began preparations for Thursday’s first-leg encounter.
“Now, it's time for the Olympic qualification, so most of them arrived today, some of them late yesterday, so the training today was really soft,” Bjorkegren said.
The Swedish coach is expecting the squad to be complete for Tuesday’s training session as preparations intensify ahead of the opening leg.
“We're still waiting for a few players, but I expect us to be full tomorrow in training,” he added.
Ghana face Mauritius on Thursday, October 8, in the first leg before hosting the return fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium five days later.
The Black Queens will have limited time to prepare as Björkegren looks to get the team ready for the two-legged Olympic qualification tie.
The coach is expected to gradually increase the intensity of training as the full squad becomes available.
