Asamoah Gyan returns to Black Stars as Clubs and Player Relations Manager

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has joined the Black Stars backroom staff in a new role as Clubs and Player Relations Manager.

The appointment will see Ghana’s all-time leading top scorer work on improving the relationship between the national team, its players and their clubs. His responsibilities will also include supporting player welfare and strengthening engagement across the Black Stars set-up.

Gyan will act as a link between the technical team, the playing squad and the clubs of selected players. He will help facilitate communication concerning international call-ups, welfare matters and other issues affecting the players.

The former captain will also provide mentorship and support to the squad, drawing on his experience with the national team and his close relationship with the current generation of Ghana players.

Gyan scored 51 goals for Ghana, making him the country’s highest goal scorer. He captained the Black Stars at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and three FIFA World Cups.

His leadership, international experience and understanding of the players are expected to be valuable assets in his new position.
