Debibi United cruised to their first-ever Ghana Premier League win with a 3-0 thrashing of Young Apostles at the Debibi Presby Park on Sunday.
Kwadwo Obeng Jnr put the hosts ahead after just four minutes before doubling their advantage in the 34th minute. The Oziii Ozaaa boys added a third before the break to take firm control of the derby.
Heavy rains delayed the restart, but Young Apostles struggled to mount a comeback. Samuel Prempeh came close twice, with one effort going narrowly wide before another struck the crossbar.
The victory provided the response Isaac Nii Armah wanted following last weekend’s defeat to Swedru All Blacks, while Young Apostles failed to build on their home win over Basake Holy Stars.
Debibi United will travel to fellow debutants FC Ashantigold next, while Young Apostles host Heart of Lions.
