KIVO/JLAB has been confirmed as the headline sponsor of Ghana’s newly created Colts U-17 Clubs Championship, agreeing to support the competition for the next three years.
The partnership was announced by Football Association president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku at the launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The new tournament is designed to give Colts Clubs across the country a regular and organised competitive environment for players under the age of 17.
Through the championship, young footballers will have more opportunities to test themselves in competitive matches, improve their abilities and build valuable experience.
It is expected to become a significant part of Ghana’s youth football structure by creating a clear platform for emerging players to demonstrate their potential.
President Okraku said the competition would increase exposure for young footballers and help them progress more quickly, while also improving the link between grassroots football and the professional game.
The Colts U-17 Clubs Championship is one of the main elements of the new partnership between the Football Association and KIVO/JLAB. The three-year agreement is intended to provide the competition with a stable basis for its development and long-term sustainability.
The tournament will also support the GFA’s broader work in Colts football. That programme includes logistical assistance for clubs, coaching education, player registration and other initiatives aimed at developing football at grassroots level.
The introduction of the championship forms part of wider efforts to strengthen the pathway for young players in Ghana, giving Colts Clubs a structured competition in which talent can be identified and developed.
