Nations FC will begin their campaign in the UMB Division One League this weekend determined to return quickly to the Premier League after last season’s relegation. The MTN FA Cup holders have strengthened ahead of their bid for promotion, while Ebiemo FC, Fetterman FC and Pro Sports Academy prepare for their first seasons in Ghana’s second tier after earning promotion. Ebiemo FC secured qualification from the Western Region. Pro Sports Academy came through the Ashanti Region, while Fetterman FC emerged from the Central Region. Nations FC’s season follows a disappointing preliminary-round exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, a result that has left coach Zdravko Logarusic seeking a stronger campaign domestically. The club are also rebuilding after the departures of several important players, including Razak Simpson, Emmanuel Annor and Faisal Charwettey. There will be plenty of competition in Zone Two, with established campaigners King Faisal, Rospak FC, Elmina Sharks, Skyy FC, Ebusua Dwarfs and PAC Academy all looking to make a strong start. Enterprising side Nsuopon Fidelity will also begin their campaign this weekend. Nsuopon Fidelity face Future Stars at the Dominase Astro Turf on Friday, before Nations FC travel to the Ampain AAK Arena to meet newly promoted Ebiemo FC. Sunday’s fixtures include King Faisal’s home match against Rospak FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Fetterman FC will make their league debut away from home against Elmina Sharks in Elmina. New Edubiase United will also start with an away fixture, visiting Ebony FC at the Mohammed Kamil Arena on Sunday.
