King Faisal Football Club have appointed Niharika Handa as the club’s new Board Chair, making her the first woman to lead the board in the club’s more than 40-year history.
The appointment, announced on August 15, marks a significant change in the leadership structure of the Kumasi-based club as they seek to strengthen their administration and long-term development.
Handa brings more than 30 years of experience in leadership, international business, sports administration and finance. She is the founder of Gold Crest Refinery and Rika Holdings.
King Faisal founder and president Alhaji Karim Grunsah said Handa’s leadership experience and commitment to sports development made her the right person to lead the board.
“Ms Niharika’s exceptional leadership qualities, extensive management background and dedication to sports development were critical factors in making her the right choice to lead the Board,” Grunsah said.
Handa said she was honoured to take up the role and outlined plans to improve conditions for the club’s players.
She wants greater investment in nutrition, modern training equipment and technology, as well as better playing and training facilities.
“I want to see King Faisal players recognised not only in Ghana, but on the global stage,” Handa said.
She also hopes her appointment will encourage more women to pursue leadership roles in Ghanaian football.
As Board Chair, Handa will oversee the club’s governance, long-term development, commercial growth and organisational structure while working with management and the technical team.
