Black Queens midfielder Evelyn Badu has warned her teammates against relying on previous meetings with Malawi as Ghana prepares for a crucial quarterfinal at the 2026 TotalEnergies Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Queens booked their place in the knockout stage after drawing with Mali and will now face Malawi for a place in the semifinals and qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Although Ghana have faced Malawi before, Badu believes those results will count for little.
"We've played them before, but football has different ways. We're not going to look at the fact that we scored against them. Now it's something different, and we're going in with a different approach, and winning is just what we're looking forward to."
Badu also praised the spirit within the squad, saying every player has contributed to the positive atmosphere in camp.
"Everyone was ready, not only me. We are different people, and everyone has their way of showing it."
The midfielder added that she remains determined to keep contributing whenever called upon as Ghana chase a return to the Women's World Cup for the first time since 2007.
