Ghanaian-Nigerian defender Abdul Mumin, currently without a club after leaving Rayo Vallecano, has been linked with a move to Girona in LaLiga2.
The 28-year-old centre-back became unattached on 1 July, following four seasons with Rayo after joining the Spanish club from Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes in September 2022. Girona’s reported interest comes as Mumin assesses his next move.
Mumin made 63 La Liga appearances for Rayo, scoring three goals and providing one assist. He also played 51 matches in Liga Portugal during his time with Vitoria Guimaraes, having previously developed in Denmark with Nordsjaelland.
His move to Rayo was completed for a reported €1.5m, after he had spent two seasons at Vitoria Guimaraes. Before that, he joined the Portuguese club from Nordsjaelland in 2020.
Mumin was born in Accra and is listed as holding Ghanaian and Nigerian nationality. He began his football development with Dawu Dream SA and Right to Dream before moving to Europe.
Girona, whose proposed destination is the Spanish second tier, have yet to confirm whether they will make a formal offer. Mumin remains without a club as the transfer rumour develops.
