Black Stars will improve with time, says GFA chief Nana Oduro Sarfo

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo remains confident in the future prospects of the Black SBlack Stars will improve with timetars, insisting the team needs time and patience to reach its full potential.

His comments come after Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, where the Black Stars exited the competition at the Round of 32 stage following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia.

Despite falling short of progressing further in the tournament, Oduro Sarfo believes the current squad has enough quality and young talent to deliver better results in future competitions.

Speaking on Asempa FM, the GFA official called for continued support and patience as the team undergoes development.

“If given the time, I believe we will get there because we have young players who can do better going forward,” he said.

Ghana opened their World Cup campaign with a dramatic 1-0 win over Panama before holding England to a goalless draw. The Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final group game but advanced to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams.

However, their journey came to an end after Colombia secured a 1-0 victory in the Round of 32, bringing Ghana’s World Cup campaign to a close.

The focus has now shifted to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where Ghana will begin their quest for a place at the continental tournament in September.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group C alongside Gambia, Ivory Coast and Somalia as they seek to return to the AFCON stage after missing out on the previous edition.
