OH Leuven sporting director hails Emmanuel Addai signing after transfer battle

OH Leuven Sporting Director Gyorgi Csepregi believes the signing of Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Addai will significantly strengthen the club's attack after securing the 24-year-old's signature despite strong interest from other clubs.

Addai completed his move to the Belgian Pro League side after signing a contract until 2028, ending speculation over his future following the expiration of his deal with Azerbaijani champions Qarabag.

Speaking after the transfer was confirmed, Csepregi praised the Ghana international's qualities and revealed the club had to fend off stiff competition to complete the deal.

"Emmanuel Addai is a modern winger who fits perfectly into our system. He is fast, creative, strong on both feet, and can easily beat a man with his acceleration," Csepregi said.

"Moreover, he brings experience at the highest level to Leuven. There was a lot of competition for him, so we are particularly happy that he has chosen OH Leuven."

Addai arrives in Belgium after two successful seasons with Qarabag, where he established himself as one of the club's most influential attacking players. Last season, he made 10 UEFA Champions League appearances against some of Europe's biggest clubs and registered seven goals and four assists in 47 matches across all competitions.

The Ghanaian is expected to add pace, creativity and directness to Leuven's attack as the club prepares for the new Belgian Pro League campaign.
