Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo shared a message of gratitude and resilience with fans on Instagram following the Black Stars' elimination from the FIFA World Cup.
Ghana exited the competition in the Round of 32 after a narrow 1-0 defeat against Colombia in Kansas City, cutting short a promising run that saw them advance out of Group L.
Semenyo, who played all 90 minutes of the knockout match, expressed deep disappointment but focused heavily on the incredible support from Ghanaian fans.
"Words can't describe how I feel. The team wanted more, and I wanted more," the Manchester City attacker stated. "To all Ghanaians, thank you for your incredible support and for traveling across America to cheer us on."
The forward refused to look at the exit as a permanent failure, choosing to emphasize growth and look ahead to future international fixtures.
"This isn't a loss, it's a lesson learned," Semenyo added. "We'll be back stronger. Believe that."
Despite a wave of late tournament attacks from Semenyo, Ernest Nuamah, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, the Black Stars were unable to break down a stubborn Colombian defense.
The defeat means Ghana will have to wait to replicate or surpass their historic 2010 quarter-final run.
