Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah has expressed confidence that Ghana’s Black Stars can overcome their recent struggles and rediscover their best form ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The General Overseer of the Believers Worship Center believes the national team has been written off by many supporters following a period of inconsistent performances that has attracted criticism and gloomy predictions about its future.
According to the renowned clergyman, the current mood surrounding the Black Stars suggests the team is “dead and in the mortuary,” reflecting the loss of faith among sections of the Ghanaian public.
Despite the pessimism, Prophet Kyei-Duah remains convinced that a turnaround is possible.
Speaking during a church service on June 7, 2026, he stated: “If you listen to what people are saying about them and the prophecies, it means⦠in Ghana we accept that the Black Stars are in a mortuary.
"Do you understand? However, if Lazarus could resurrect from death through God, then the Black Stars can come back to life.”
His comments come shortly after Sports Minister Kofi Adams visited the prophet’s church to seek divine blessings for the national team as preparations intensify for the World Cup.
Ghana will compete in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama at the tournament, which kicks off on June 11 across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
