Wales coach Craig Bellamy says his side must continue improving as they prepare to face Ghana in an international friendly at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday.
Although Wales will not be taking part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Bellamy believes the match against the Black Stars presents an important opportunity for his team to develop ahead of future competitions.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Bellamy described Ghana as one of two challenging opponents Wales will face during the international window.
"They're two very, very different challenges, but challenges that can really help us improve because I see big improvements in the team," Bellamy said.
"We have to improve, I have to improve as a coach, and those two factors motivate me a lot."
The friendly marks the first-ever meeting between Wales and Ghana and the first time Wales have hosted African opposition.
Bellamy will be without Jordan James, Rubin Colwill, Mark Harris and Liam Cullen, but he has been boosted by the return of Connor Roberts, Chris Mepham and Ben Davies.
The former Wales forward is expected to use the match to assess several younger players as he begins planning for future Nations League and European Championship qualification campaigns.
For Ghana, the game represents an important test ahead of the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Black Stars are looking to end a poor run of results in friendly matches and continue preparations under coach Carlos Queiroz, who is expected to finalise his 26-man squad shortly after the match.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama and will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto.
