Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo etched his name into football history after becoming the first Ghanaian player ever to score in a men’s English FA Cup final.
The Black Stars attacker achieved the remarkable feat by scoring the winning goal in Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
In a final that struggled to come alive for long periods, Semenyo produced the decisive moment of quality in the 72nd minute to settle the contest.
The Ghanaian forward met Erling Haaland’s cross with a clever first-time right-foot finish across Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to hand Manchester City another major trophy under Pep Guardiola.
The goal not only secured FA Cup glory for City but also ensured Semenyo became the first Ghanaian to score in the final of the famous competition since its inception in 1871.
Antoine Semenyo became Ghana’s most expensive player after his move to Man City in January. Since then, he has become the first Ghanaian nominated for the Premier League Player of the Year award and now the first Ghanaian to score in an FA Cup final

Semenyo’s impact since joining Manchester City from Bournemouth in January for £65 million has been immediate, with the forward quickly establishing himself as an important player in Guardiola’s squad.
The FA Cup triumph also completed another domestic cup success for City after already lifting the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.
