Dreams FC will host Asante Kotoko at the Tuba AstroTurf on Sunday, with both sides heading into the Ghana Premier League clash under contrasting circumstances.
For Asante Kotoko, the focus is on stabilising a turbulent campaign. Interim coach Hamza Obeng takes charge for the first time, becoming the third man to lead the club this season after Karim Zito’s dismissal and Prince Yaw Owusu’s resignation following the heavy defeat to Medeama. Obeng’s immediate task is to steady performances and guide the team toward a respectable finish, with title ambitions already out of reach.
Kotoko’s recent form underlines the challenge ahead. They arrive in Accra on the back of consecutive defeats to Medeama and Samartex, extending their winless run to three matches. Their struggles on the road are even more concerning, having failed to score in their last three away games.
In contrast, Dreams FC approach the fixture with renewed confidence. They are still buoyed by their run to the FA Cup final and have built momentum in the league with back-to-back victories over Medeama and Eleven Wonders. That form has lifted them into eighth place with 40 points from 29 matches.
However, defensive lapses at home remain an issue for Dreams, who have conceded in four straight matches on their own ground. They will need to tighten up at the back as they face a Kotoko side capable of capitalising despite recent inconsistencies.
The head-to-head record suggests a closely fought contest. Since June 2023, the two sides have met six times, with Kotoko winning three, Dreams two, and one ending in a draw. The reverse fixture in December 2025 saw Kotoko edge a 1-0 victory.
Kotoko sit sixth with 43 points, three ahead of Dreams, and will be eager to respond after their recent slump. For Dreams, the aim is to extend their winning run and strengthen their position in the top half.
With one side seeking stability and the other riding momentum, Sunday’s encounter in Accra presents a finely balanced contest.
