English-Ghanaian winger Owura Edwards played a key role in Colchester United’s 2â1 home win over Accrington Stanley, laying on the crucial equaliser in a hard-fought League Two clash at the JobServe Community Stadium.
With Colchester trailing, Edwards sparked the comeback in the 43rd minute, driving at the defence before supplying the pass for Will Goodwin to level the score at 1â1 just before half-time.
That moment shifted the momentum after Shaun Whalley had earlier put Accrington ahead on 33 minutes, and Colchester went on to dominate possession and chances after the break. Their pressure finally told late on when Jack Payne struck an 86th-minute winner, completing the turnaround and sealing a valuable three points for the U’s.
For Edwards, the assist adds to a steadily growing contribution this season, with the 25-year-old now on 1 goal and 4 assists in 33 League Two appearances in 2025/26. His direct running and creativity from the flank once again gave Colchester a constant outlet in attack. Danny Cowley’s side now turn their attention to their next league fixture away at Harrogate Town on Saturday, 18 April 2026.
