Asante Kotoko interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has outlined his tactical approach for Sunday's crucial Ghana Premier League clash against Medeama SC, revealing that his side will look to exploit the hosts on the counter-attack.
Kotoko travel to Tarkwa desperate to bounce back from a disappointing 2â1 home loss to FC Samartex, a result that left them fourth on the table with 43 pointsâeight behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. Medeama, meanwhile, have slipped to second after surrendering a nine-point lead and are also in need of a turnaround.
Speaking to the club's media, Owusu made no secret of his game plan.
"We are just going to counter-attack and see if we can bring them down," he said.
The coach revealed that he has addressed his players following the Samartex defeat and is confident they will respond positively.
"I have spoken to them⦠the boys are ready to fight back and make sure they bring some life into the supporters."
Owusu acknowledged the setback but urged his squad not to dwell on it.
"In life, things happen; when it happens, you don't have to let it keep you down."
With both teams desperate for points to keep their title hopes alive, Sunday's encounter at the TNA Stadium promises to be a tense affair. Owusu believes his counter-attacking strategy could be the key to exploiting Medeama's vulnerabilities and securing a vital away victory.
